Riot Games Work Experience

My most recent work experience had me work as an intern at Riot Games. The position title was "AppSec intern" for which I would produce a product that would help the internal bug fixing process that had reports come solely from the bug bounty program riot lauched in November of 2014 on the HackerOne Bug Bounty platform.

The task had me personally use the HackerOne platform to communicate with researchers and verify bug reports that were submitted through the HackerOne website. The product produced was a simple web application complete with a scraper, database and frontend presentation that summarised and offered a number of different views to aid analytics of the submitted HackerOne reports coupled with the corresponding internal Jira tickets and the information contained in those tickets. A key goal was to streamline the internal submit / verify / fix / pay-out process with a collective view that would enable engineers to quickly assess where their attention was required and pick-up the work from. This goal was met after many concept drawings, versions and much discussion and input from the majority of the security engineers.

Tall, social, Dutch guy with a keen interest in Computer Security and Networking as well as Psychology and Computer games. I love to travel, participate in sports (currently Korfball and Badminton), general social activities and currently am a frequent gym goer.

I am currently doing a PhD in Computer Networks at the University of Essex in partnership with British Telecom. More specifically on the topic of video delivery and viewer behaviour in large video delivery services. I also function as a Graduate Laboratory Assistant (GLA) teaching Computer Networks and Network Security to third year degree students at the University of Essex. In 2013 I graduated with a 1st class BEng in Computer Networks from the University of Essex and started doing my PhD straight after finishing my degree.
